June 2013 News and Updates

Art Camp for 2013 has begun with lots of creativity in the air.  Carolyn is using many ideas from her recent stint as a judge at the Brevard County Art Shows last month. Pearly has been introduced to the art camp students and seems to be taking all the attention paid to her in stride.  After all, being so cute she is used to being the main attraction.

  • Our gallery is a sponsor for Barbeque and Blues in Cocoa Village starting June 7th through the 9th.  Many people will be in town for this activity and most events will be happening across the street from Carolyn Seiler and Friends so we may have lots of visitors to our gallery over the week-end.
  • Jo-Ann Jensen has moved to Titusville and left the gallery.  We wish her the best and will miss her colorful silk creations.
  • Elizabeth Sammons recently won first place in the pet category and second place in Best of Show of the Space Coast Feline Network “Animals in Art 2013”
  • Every month City wide Arts & Entertainment magazine will feature a picture of art from one of our artists within our gallery advertisement.  Check with Carolyn to see who is scheduled to be the next featured artist.  Each artist being featured is responsible for sending Tony Strong a picture of their art with their name and a note that it is to be used as the featured artist within the Carolyn Seiler & Friends ad.  Send a short bio as well and if Tony has space he will print an article about the artist.

JUNE SPOTLIGHT ARTIST CASEY SCHREIBER

Casey is our newest artist at the gallery and has hit the floor running.  She has had great sales and created a fan base that spans the globe as several foreign visitors to the gallery have returned to their homeland with some of her pocket books.

Casey was raised on a small farm in Florida by her art teacher mother and engineer father.  Casey’s mother was instrumental in Casey’s early art development as she always had art projects for Casey and her sisters to keep them busy and productive.  Casey enjoyed drawing and working with  colored pencils but her mother also provided her girls with beads, buttons and supplies so they could create jewelry.  Casey continued making her own jewelry and while in college she studied abroad in Edinburgh Scotland for a two-week jewelry course which created a true passion for design.  In the Cocoa Village Spring  Art and Craft Show this year Casey won third place in jewelry design.

Casey’s father gave her a book that became so well read that it was loved to pieces – literally.  Casey turned the beloved cover of the book into a pocket book and another outlet for her talent evolved – creating pocket books.  Her newest endeavor is making small hand-bound book necklaces which can now be seen in her display space.  Casey is continuing to experiment with her pocket book designs and is even thinking about working in stained glass again creating sun catchers.  Casey has many talents so her possibilities are endless.  It will be fun watching what she creates next!
